ABOUT US

waikiki_600

KAIULI is a native Hawaiian word that refers to the deepest, darkest depths of the sea.

KAIULI ENERGY specializes in renewable energy development and systems operations. Like the maka‘ainana (people of the land) of long ago, Kaiuli Energy strives to attain a sustainable balance capitalizing on the unique and abundant renewable natural resources of Hawaii.

While Hawaii may not be known as a worldwide leader in typical sectors of development, our environment allows for access to some of the world’s best sources of Deep Seawater, Geothermal Mass, Solar Exposure and Wind Currents. This makes Hawaii the ideal place to lead the world in large scale renewable energy expertise, technology and systems. In conjunction with our strategic partners, Kaiuli Energy is well positioned to lead in this arena.

WAIKIKI SEAWATER AIR CONDITIONING

Marketability for an Environmentally Friendly Visitor Industry...A GREENER WAIKIKI.

How It Works

Typical SWAC systems consist of cold deep sea water pumped up from the bottom of the sea and passed through a heat exchanger in a District Cooling Plant where it is used to cool fresh water. The warmer sea water is returned to the ocean in a thermally neutral process. The colder fresh water is circulated to the buildings connected to the system.

District Cooling

districtCooling_500

  • District Cooling systems generate and distribute thermal energy on a community basis. Chilled water produced from a central plant is distributed via an underground distribution system to several buildings in a district for air conditioning purposes.
  • The warmer sea water is returned to the ocean in a thermally neutral process.
  • The colder fresh water is circulated to the buildings connected to the system.
  • District Cooling provides high reliability (generally 99.99% or greater) and provides for the availability of cooling service 24hrs/day, 365 days/year.
